Tripping at the zoo & 4th of July sweet treats

Since we don't live in California and own a set of year-round passes to Disneyland, we settle for the zoo and botanical garden passes...just as good right? :/
Honestly though I dig what Albuquerque offers.  I like our zoo it always turns out to be a fun trip for us and the family. This being our second time with Robby I think he is pretty keen on it too.

Photo opp to start of our zoo adventure. Oh and just in case you'r´ wondering Greg has signed a contract stating all photos of him will be ones with out him smiling. It makes sense this is the internet and there are quite a lot of photos of his beautiful kids...I guess he wants you to know who's boss.

A nice bird show to break up or trip. Owls are cool but geez do they have to be so deathly spooky? Look it's like he knows he's freaking me out.

Robs loved the show. He really liked when the birds flew over head to the stage. And was overjoyed that not one of them crapped on him.

Robby didn't trust that bird. Don't think Greg did either.

This one obviously knows how cute he is so why ruin that with making you mad by pooing on you. Smart bird.

This kid is so happy he smiles at Giraffes eating leaves with those crazy long black tongues or Gorillas picking there nose ( I do too) or like in this photo wind blowing in his hair.

Snakes and Robby? Not quit sure of yet but he seemed more interested in the 80yr old Grandma sporting a piercing on her upper lip!!!

Interesting fact learned that day to keep a very mobile Robby still on a open blanket in a open park....Put food in his hands so he A: cant crawl away (because his mitts are to full with food). B: won't want to leave for the simple fact of missing the new food mom keeps pulling out of her magical food basket.

Robby and Mina kicking it after lunch.

And a quick pic of proof that I can be patriotic. Simple 4th of july treat bags woohoo!

Happy summer, friends!

Fast recap may cause seizure's

Ahhh.....Summer is getting away from me and there is so much still to cover. Got to get the kids to the pools some time, gotta see Mom and Pops in Cruces and need to get in as many trips to the zoo, park and aquarium all before school starts!
But man I love the summers. Wearing shorts, sunglasses. Enjoying long nights and BBQs in the back yard. Winter, Fall and spring are great too but summer is what makes the desert what it is. Sure I wish it would rain so those fires would clear up but still you can't beat NM summers.
Greg took a whole week off of work for a mini summer home vacation and here are some pics of the goings on that took place that week.

Robby was awarded best bed head in the Mays house!
summer hat.

French toast & turkey bacon to kick off Greg's week off.
quick what do you do with veggies about to go bad?......
juice them!...and drink a little here and there kicking and screaming...uhh I hate beets.
Girls night out...celebrating a girlfriends bachelorette party by eating Greek food and singing karaoke!
Music @ the zoo! Robby LOVED it!!
so fun!

threw a bridal shower for my friend!

Me, Amber (Bride)  and Kristi!
this is not a pouty kiss face its a duck face...so much cooler. ..really.

Amber's so excited to get cute new pot holder's to make fabulous pop tarts & toast.

Oh and Greg did his acting debut on USA'S "In Plain Sight"

Watched it on Sunday with his whole family...we screamed through the entire 5 sec he was on!

Wedding for another friend. Mina and Lucy (her cousin) posing for the pics holding a candle that clearing stated not for children.

ET Movie Theme Night!

With not much time to plan and not much in funds our Saturday evening had turned into a movie theme night?
You know when you're watching lets say.... Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and you want candy. Well what would you eat if you were planning on watching E.T? Pizza and OF COURSE Reese's Pieces. This was a plan Greg had decided on so off to the shops for our movie theme groceries!
I remember when this movie came out and remember seeing it in the theaters more then once...I also remember it being played in the theaters for a year! It freaked me out a bit watching the little big eyed alien but quickly fell in love and was crying uncontrollably at the scene when Elliot and ET depart ways :(
I don't think Mina will remember this movie as well as I did at her age. I'm pretty sure those spots are reserved for movies about high school kids dancing and singing and girls falling madly in love with vampires.
Other theme movie nights in our future include: Breakfast club w/ detention brown bag lunch's (you pick your character), The Godfather trilogy w/ Italian food (cannoli included), Breakfast at Tiffanys where we will eat breakfast and pretend its 5 in the morning in NYC in front of ...you guessed it Tiffanys (aka the couch) and maybe Marie Antoinette tea cakes and debt (just for the girls)!
If I asked what your "Movie Theme Night" would be would you tell me?

M&M was the movies original choice of candy.... but they declined.....*Dorks*
In the movie Elliot shows ET his Pez dispenser.  I want to say it was a  Boba Fett one. All we had was Hello Kitty...she did fine.

Robb's outfit deserved a pic!

Summer lovin' and Meatless Mondays!

I'm fitting in two posts in one today so bear with me. Memorial Day was a blast with a surprise visit from Mom & Dad (my parents). With a quick trip to Trader Joe's we had ourselves a all American BBQ (meatless Mondays was also on holiday). On Tuesday we took the grandparents to the aquarium and Robby's first visit! It was the perfect trip....quiet, calm and fast.  Robby and Grandpa are on the same schedule: quick trips and not much sun! I would like to say that Robby LOVED seeing all the sharks swimming and was so intrigued by the brightly colored fish passing by, but honestly he just likes being out and about with the family and smiles at everything and everyone. Mom & Dads visit was short and sweet and Greg had only went into work once that week (ahhh teachers summer schedules). Over all the first week of summer was a hit!

Here is a super easy "Meatless Monday"meal idea. I know its the summer but I still love my soup. Trader Joe's has the best tomato soup its so easy to make. That along side a great grilled cheese and you have your self a quick comforting meal. Enjoy!

Don't judge me and my butter usage.
Fontina cheese is such a great pick for grilled cheese.

Just in case you were wondering if a 9 month and a 10yr old can both fit into a pack -and- play....they can!

If you come to my house and see teeth marks on all my furniture you know why.
